Phillips Park Golf Course is a Public golf course located in Aurora, Illinois.
Phillips Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1930. The course was redesigned and re-opened in July 2001. The redesign was handled by Gregory E. Martin
Phillips Park Golf Course has three sets of tees, the golf course ranges from 4,760 yards to 6,200 yards, providing a wide range of challenge for varying abilities. The 18-hole layout consists of two distinct nines. The front nine is a links style layout with wide open fairways, but strategically positioned with fairway and greenside bunkers. The back nine is the original hilly nine. Tree lined fairways and strategically placed bunker guarding the greens make the back nine at Phillips Park the most challenging.
Three dominant landscape features characterize the course: prairie, woodlands and hills. The front nine is more typical of a Midwest prairie and has a distinct “links†flavor. The front nine meanders through a stand of massive oak and hickory woodland, while the back nine rolls up, down and across the hills and through the trees that overlook nearby Mastodon Lake. The prairie, the woodlands and the hills each contribute to the course diversity.
The Phillips Park Golf Course is a facility that has evolved over the past 75 years, culminating with the renovation of the golf course in 2001. The 18-hole course can now boast modern features like "USGA" Greens, a computerized irrigation system, multiple tees, larger greens, better overall drainage systems, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, cart paths and a driving range, as well as a three hole Junior Course. These improvements are in keeping with the mission of the City of Aurora's Department of Parks & Recreation, to offer recreational opportunities to all abilities and ages..

I have recommended this course to many of my friends and refer to it as a "hidden gem". You can't find a better value. Some of my friends will drive close to an hour to play here. I've golfed more expensive courses in much worse shape. Coure always in playable condition. Staff very friendly and welcoming. I've used it for client golf in the past and probably will in the future. Wish they had a better club house.

Very nice variety of holes. Shorter than most area courses. Only 6,186 went played from the long tees. Fun course.

I am about a 20 handicap, so difficulty is hard to judge. But a great course for the area and the best price as well.
